Does anybody know a sand hill crane guide or anybody that will let a fellow hunter tag along on a hunt. Thanks

Never chased them,..I've heard they call them "Ribeye in the sky" in Texas.....could be just hearsay though.

Couldn't hurt to send a private message to the OP of that thread. Meanwhile, I do not know anything about this entity, but it one of a few having specifically mentioned them...

@aaronc they are very fine table fare! The moniker goes well! We always try to hunt them a couple days in Canada. Try to bring a possession limit of them back!

Getting permission on good ground is very tough. but we usually kill a few every year. I can say decoying them is far more fun than any other birds when them legs drop and they come in to sit in the decoys its a blast.

Looks that way I am willing to pay somebody just to hunt with them that knows what they are doing

Check out the past harvest check information, the majority are in Hardin or Barren Counties, depending on where the birds are. Do some door knocking.

I see and hear them fly over our house every year. They are always WAY up there. Always wanted to try some to see what all the fuss is about.

We are heading to Canada in 2 weeks. 2 years ago, 5 of us killed 25 cranes in half an hour up there. Taste just like pot roast. Great hunt

#1 rule to kill cranes is be on the X, or, close to the X and on high ground. If 2nd scenario, TSS is your friend. They decoy well!
