Swai has been on the market for a long time but has always been sold as simply "catfish". It's a fish imported from Viet Nam that was killing the US farm raised catfish market so legislation was passed that it can no longer simply be passed off as "catfish".
I'm sure you've probably eaten it several times and never even knew the difference.. just like the asian carp would be.
I watched a video a couple of months ago of SWAI being farmed in these pond/rivers over in Viet Nam that had peoples huts built over them....raw sewage dumping into the water.....fish coming out of the same water ,flash frozen and shipped off in crates. no thanks on this asian catfish.......
And yet another reason to pass.
