This is the first attempt at polishing my newly acquired S&W 686-1 with 2500 grit and Mothers. It had a dull matte stainless finish that looked like crap. I took it apart to polish the trigger and the hammer. I've ordered some finer grit metal polishing paper, from 3000 to 7000 grit in an attempt to remove the machining marks and polish it to a mirror finish. Plus I'm getting a light box to try to get better pics, it's hard to take close-up pics indoors without a flash, this is all new to me. It's a bit more challenging than on the river or in the woods.

Like You, I think the stock finish looks like Crap also. I have seen them polished up real pretty.

Exactly! They should at least make them more pleasing to the eye.

    Beautiful work sir. Well done!!
I have a couple of Colt's I've thought about trying to polish up like that, but I'm afraid I'd mess it up!
    Great camera work as well!
