Here where I'm at you used to see them on a regular basis, the past 3 to 4 years I've only seen one about once a year, I've heard that we have one game warden that works several counties, that explains why I haven't seen one in two years. Where is all of our money for licenses and tags going?

I’ve never been checked for my hunting license and have only had my fishing license checked maybe 3 times. I did have two game wardens load a buck into the back of my truck in Martin County in 1997. Now that’s public service. I like getting checked and talking with them. I also think they deserve a pay raise and anything else they can get. I’ve got a lot of respect for them.

CO’s are in that 40k neighborhood which considering what lots of local pds pay isn’t much. After talking to several I was under the impression they were responding to their calls and taking some other calls from local agencies as over flow.

When I was much younger I used to think that would be a cool job but I got a hard lesson in economics early on and realized I’d be better off doing something else.

Agreed. I just don’t see why we have to have a specialized force that is largely undermanned specifically for wildlife? Law enforcement is law enforcement.
Because how many deputies and police officers are they going to dedicate to scouting known hunting areas or farms checking people. Or follow up on calls that involve wildlife when everyone is short handed as it is.

How many does the department? I’ve heard these guys are extremely over worked and undermanned. I have a feeling CO’s just play whackamole.
