Getting ready to head to the farm now got a picture of my target buck for the first time in two weeks three minutes after shooting like last night.

I’m hoping he didn’t go far in bedded down and shows back up at some point today

Been hunting him for three years now.

I slept in, and went to church.

Went and picked up one of my cameras and while I was there I went ahead and took down the turkey blind before the wind destroyed it. I will run the one camera over corn through January to see what comes to eat when food is scarce. I did see 2 does bedded on a steep hillside under some honeysuckle bushes on my drive in the gravel road. They were holding really tight.

Well I decided to give it one last go the last hour and a half or so of light. Feel like I’m wasting time but damn sure can’t kill ‘em on the couch.

Last fence crossing of modern gun.

It was cold, it was windy “like scary windy”, it was raining most of the evening. I still managed to rattle an old bruiser in but wind swirled as he cleared brush and slowly off he went… had a few big old doe after that within spitting range.

Overall I’m tickled with the season thus far. Everybody in my family that wanted to kill a critter got one or two… still a month and a half to go but I’m going to rest and try to get to know my family again till blackpowder.

Got wet early am, dead trees crashing, went to truck, came out around 10, ran into game wardens leaving out, they were looking for duck hunters shooting a pistol or something to that effect, we chatted, went home and called it a season, always bittersweet such a time of year I cherish and look forward to hate to see it go lots of memories and traditions in the past 3 weeks, dang I hate it to end

Made Jerky and 12 pounds of summer sausage used all my buck meat, probably shoot a doe in late muzzleloader and do it all over again!

Mason finally connected. Boy has hunted hard this week, very few sightings. He was down on himself pretty bad after missing a spike early Wednesday then shooting a decent buck Wednesday evening and not being able to find it. He got to connect on this one this morning. Missed it once, but it hung around and gave him another shot. He was using his late uncles 30.06 this morning. He lost his scope cap off his 243 Wednesday and we didn't notice until last night, and was worried about possibility of scope being off, so he used the 30.06. He told me after he shot it that he had prayed last night and this morning that he would get another opportunity. Told him the big man and his uncle was looking out for him.
