My final hunt resulted in 2 doe's at 100 yds, 1 Opossum, 3 - squirrels and 8 raccoons! A great hunt to end the season with. Lots of wildlife action! Looking forward to September!

Had 10 deer on me. It’s hard enough to breathe with out getting busted let alone manage to get a shot off. The odd part came after shot. She went 20 yards and stopped. Stood there looking around I was like cool she will drop right there and be close to the field edge. Stood there for a minute or so and started walking. Then laid down. Ok she’s going to die. I can see the entry hole. A huge baseball size air bubble forms over it. She gets up goes a few yards lays down. This happens probably 8 times over the course of 40 minutes. Finally she gets out of sight. I get down go get my mule and give her some more time. I search and search can’t find no blood from were I last see her. I’m like WTH. I double lunged her. I went a total different direction and found blood then after 20 more yard her. I don’t think the head opened right or something. Exit is in the pic. Anyway great way to end the season. I’ve never killed this late. When I opened her up I saw what I figured I’d see.

Ive got a stand like that. Believe I’ll be thinning out the coon herd with a shotgun soon. Can’t trap the area due to landowner pets. Got a couple with bow this year but it’s hard on broadheads.

Nock, Thanks for the pic and the associated story. These animals never cease to amaze me on their resilience. Had a friend double lung a doe several years ago. We tracked it a little over 400 yards before hitting the water's edge of Energy Lake (LBL). And there it was..........floating in the lake 50 yards off the bank. He stripped down and went in after it! LOL!
Autopsy proved the top of lung on entry and bottom of opposite lung on exit. Hard to believe it could go that far. Sounds like you had a tough one too!

What broadhead were you using?

That may have been part of my problem Sunday. I’m shooting Rage broad heads . What are you using?
