Doesn’t seem to be many folks in woods. Should be able to cover it all in one thread.
I went this morning. Not expecting much. Boy was I wrong. Had 3 doe in front of me 70yds at day break. Had 5 doe come out to my left/behind me at 30yds. Then 7 doe came out dead to my left at 40. I lined up as they came in, picked out some delicious Backstraps. Then caught movement behind them, something big and dark lumbering through the woods.
The 5 joined the 7. All in bow range but I was holding out. A buck that was a shooter hopped the fence at 35. My heart was hammering, legs weak. Careful check with rangefinder said he was busted to pieces…. I let him pass. He proceeded to split the pack. One of the 7 was hot, must have been a young one. The 5 doe split and came back past me. He dogged the doe across the field.
3 more doe came out at 70. No shots. Then it was completely dead by 8 AM. Just came out. Still smiling. Was a ball, I’ll be back.
