Dam dogs,somethings never change
I am back at work , Thursday will be the only chance I’ll have for next seven days
In a tree in Fayette County. Worked last night so I didn't get out here until 9. I'll sit for an hour or two before I head to bed. So far I've seen a squirrel and heard three shots close by.
Living through you guys today from the big city of Nashville. Everybody that hunts my farm with me has got a decent buck but me (I'm booner hunting). Will be back out Friday. Keep us working folks posted and good luck to all.
Trees a rocking. May have to get down, put the nose in the wind and still hunt a couple of hours.
Hoping this front put them on their feet sometime today.
Yeah, I left the stand in the truck this morning. Was going to try to glass some known bedding areas to see if I could locate a big boy but leaves are too dry. You almost have to move only when the wind is locked up they are so load. The wind will be switching a lot this week so maybe I can hunt a different side of the farm tomorrow. Should be out of the NE. It is a SW now
Busy day here so far. 10-14 does/fawns with 5 different bucks messing with some of them. The 2 biggest were 2 1/2 yr old 8’s that tucked their ears and acted like they were ready to fight then the bigger of the 2 chickened out with the other escorting him away! This was all going on 20 yards from my stand. Son got a case of the shaking buck fever when a good one got past him without a shot opportunity.
Wind picked up just after 0830 here and is still blowing steady around 10 mph and a bit gusty. Anybody still seeing deer in this?
My sightings stopped when the wind picked up.
Well seen a good buck dog paddling through below me round 719 this
morning. Big body, couldnt tell much about his rack. Also seen a doe
and young one, then the wind cranked up. Heard three shots.
Im done till Wednesday,be careful guys and good luck.
Are you in the tree by yourself?
Up a tree with my bow. Did mid morning stand shift. Getting random sprinkles supposed to get snow flurries in a bit. Hoping to see more action then I did this morning.
Backed and headed home until tomorrow. Had 2 does bedded on the ridge top behind me. If you guys hadn’t spent so much time talking about what squirrels and deer sound like, I might have heard them coming in
Had a good morning sit. Beautiful morning until the wind picked up. At one point I had does and fawns all around me. One had me pinned downwind at 25 yards but my thermals were rising. She knew something wasn’t right and kept stomping. I stood motionless and then I heard a deer not 5 yards behind me. (I still marvel at how they can sneak up on me like that.). I slowly turned my head thinking it was a buck but just another doe. Saw 10 different deer. Two doe still had their fawns. No bucks. Left when it got super windy. Back at it on Wednesday.
