They are northern robins that got pushed down here by the cold blast the other week.

Robin invasion!!

Must have been at least 20 or 25 flying around my yard this afternoon.

Some of them must've needed to wash up in my old wheelbarrow after their trip. 😊

Guarding my lovely bluebirds
I just looked out my dining room window and I have a backyard full of Robin's. Seems early for them to be here.

Found your answer,

...One reason why they seem to disappear every winter is that their behavior changes...

...But what we’re seeing is the switch from being nonterritorial in the winter time to aggressively defending a territory in advance of courting and raising chicks. This behavioral switch is quite common in birds...

while looking into what all eats freshwater clams and mollusk, which ends up being quite a bit and most likely the Canada Geese in my instance (due to the fact that the shell was located within the spot in which they prefer to hang-out while upon land).

I used to hunt along this really grown up little creek near my house. Really good spot to hunt but for whatever reason there where always a TON of robins that hung out there all fall and winter. I stopped hunting there mainly because of them. As soon as the sun started to peak out they never shut up until dark. Drove me nuts! They always stayed in that one area and I rarely saw any anywhere else during the cold months.
