Reciprocity is for ccdw only BUT as of june 12 2022 Ohio is now a constitutional carry state. Before that date you were illegal, looks like interpretation of carrying in a vehicle is vague and up for interpretation so you are at the mercy of the sitting attorney general. See below.

Summary of Ohio Gun Laws

Ohio is a shall-issue state with concealed weapons licenses issued at the county level by a county sheriff.

There is no permit, background check or firearms registration required when buying a handgun from a private individual.

Open carry and concealed carry are legal without a permit. Individuals 21 years old or older not prohibited from carrying or possessing a handgun are no longer required to obtain a license to carry a concealed handgun as of June 12, 2022. Since open carry is not addressed in state statutes, the Federal minimum age for possession of a handgun of 18 years old applies. Disclaimer:Carrying in vehicles is not addressed in the Constitutional Carry bill. However, according to the Ohio Attorney General, it is legal to possess a loaded firearm in a vehicle.

Residents can still obtain a CHL. They must have completed eight hours of firearms training and meet other criteria to qualify. Current and former servicemen and women are able to obtain an Ohio CHL without paying the fee or going through a concealed carry class. In addition, active duty military with a valid military identification card and documentation of successful firearms training that meets or exceeds that required in Ohio do not need to obtain an Ohio license. Non-residents can obtain a CHL if they work in Ohio. In terms of reciprocity, Ohio will honor permits issued by any state or jurisdiction.
Thanks. That is helpful.

Does constitutional carry only apply to state residents?….or does it also cover travelers and nonresidents within the state?

We needed phones over the weekend I thought apple was still in mall. We took pistol with 3 clips and revolver and that's just for Lexington.

It's not just getting locked up and fined plus all the associated costs involved. People have /are being convicted of felonies.
A person should be able to go anywhere in the US without having to worry about getting locked up.
If going to one of these communist crap holes is that important then by all means take the risk. They love to pull over OOSers for breaking a minor traffic law.
If I absolutely had to travel there I'd take the risk but, the best way to avoid a problem is being somewhere else.

I’ll take my chances. If I travel very far from home I always have one. If I get pulled over, they’re gonna run my info and not even see a seatbelt ticket. So I would tell them I had one and the reason is because I’m so far from home. It’s easier to ask for forgiveness than permission sometimes.

It is my philosophy that if a state doesn't respect my right to keep and bear arms, I see no reason to spend any of my money in that state.
Im the same way, but itd a couple bucket list items that i need to do, if only once. I also want to see the giant redwoods, which means visiting California.
I expect it too will be a ‘once and done’.
Its the major reason i dont air travel, and definately not out of the US, i dont plan on being defensless, anywhere.

Well call me an ignorant outlaw, but there’s no way in hell I would be traveling anywhere that far from home without a firearm
Beau, Tell that to Kyle Busch who was busted in Messico recently for having a loaded handgun. Got a big fine and 3 1/2 years Sentence. I think Money bought him out of the country.
I will look for the link.

I agree and regularly drove to nj and chicago knowing i may sit in jail for a long while. I was caught once and the officer looked the other way but told me i was playing Russian roulette. I can no longer afford that to happen at the moment with a disabled daughter that is counting on me, for now.
