is the department aware of this problem. I’ve lost the fish in two ponds and neighbors have had the same happen to them. I guess the lesson is - river otters don’t stay in rivers.
Yes it is otters doing this.

Happened to my uncle's pond about 10-12 years ago. He called F&W, guy asked if he owned a .22 and left it at that. They will flat wipe out a pond quickly.

I was fishing from the bank on Nolin and heard a commotion at a near by dock, a minute later an otter jumped onto the dock and ate it's catch. I watched thinking no one is going to believe me. It slipped back into the water and about 5 min. later the s.o.b. took my spring top fish basket with 10 big gills in it.

There is a season on them for a reason I suspect. I see them in the Cumberland all the time. Between them the eagles and cormorants the fish don't stand a chance.

They are legal to shoot. Season is November 12 to February 28. Season limit is 10 or 6 depending on what county you're in. Must be tele-checked similar to a deer.

As soon as they clean the fish out of a pond they will move on to the next one . My buddy has 2 big ponds and the otters cleaned out all the fish (bass ,"gills" and catfish ) . By the time he figured out what was going on it was to late . He said that he never saw them during the day light, only at night .
