depends on the load. Normal 45 colt loads are very gentle. The load listed above is an extremely stout load with maybe a bit more recoil then a 44 mag.

But then again, completely different grip style.

Yep. Just like rifles and their different stocks can affect felt recoil. I’ve fired 454 Casull in a Ruger Alaskan and a Raging Bull. The Raging Bull was way more tame and tolerable.
