Looking to get a new deer rifle and got it narrowed down to these two. Love the history and look of of the remington but have heard a lot of good things about the Tikka. Any opinions would be greatly appreciated.

I've never read anything negative about the Tikka. I own a 25.06 CDL. Love it, but the next rifle I buy will be the Tikka if the caliber is offered.

Tikka! A buddy recently bought a Rem 700 in 25/06, couldn't get it to shoot. Long story short when a gunsmith bore scoped it there was a big problem with the chamber, sent back to Remington, instead of sending a new rifle they made a very poor attempt at fixing the old one, no way would it shoot with what they did. They finally sent another one but it was an ordeal. They used to make a fine factory rifle, not anymore. Everybody I know who owns a tikka raves about the accuracy and they are priced well.

Man that's really a shame. I love rem 700s but all I've ever been around was older ones

If you're set on a Remington, pick up a lightly used older one

good decision I think based on the way my 5 yr old rems shoot compared to one that is 18 and another 30 yr old rifle. the older rifles are super accurate, the newer ones not so much. I'm thinking about having the newer ones rebarreled.

Remington has went down in quality over the past years IMO. You will love the Tikka in .308

I'm sorry some of y'all are not happy with your old "junk" Remington 700's. Just box them up and send them to me.
