Anybody tickling the antlers yet? I got a lot of sparring pics this week.... Videoed those two shoving around pretty good two weeks ago.

I had 4 different bucks sparring at different times this morning. This was one of the clearer pics I got. I think this front got their testosterone levels up a bit!

I have some rattling antlers but very seldom take them to the stand with me. Never did have much luck with them but it is fun to beat the hell out of them to break the monotony.

Most of the bucks I see where I hunt are a result of rattling and grunting. Most that come in are young but all the bucks where I hunt seem young. I usually start around early ML.

Saw three bucks tonight, and heard my first snort wheeze. All three bucks hit the same scrape, and raised up on the licking branch. Biggest was a 7 with good frame and 10” 2’s. Dunno if he will ever amount to anything, but he’s 3, maybe 4. Very cool hearing the snort wheeze. Saw three does with fawns. No spots, but fawns still nursing, and does letting them.

I don't think rattling would be effective this time of year. Yes, they do spar, but it is not territorial or related to breeding competition this early. I think rattling might however, bring in some curiosity if it was light tickling of the antlers. But anything more than that may be too aggressive and spook them.

Seems a couple weeks early but I think this cool spell has them frisky. I may tickle them next weekend. I've seen them fighting hard in early youth season so, like everything else, depends on the area.
