Got to feeling better and went to another lake and all I know is they just weren't biting today. Only 1 bite and a small fish.

Well went to the lake and met up with Johnny and his granddaughter. I caught 1 before they got their and then Ella managed to get us 3 more. I think his grandkids have had a good time through the week while they been visiting.

I got out today for a while as well and caught a limit. One thing for sure is just because you get a hook in them they aren't caught til they're on the stringer. I had three get off at the waters edge and missed several on hook set. I couldn't find any of the tiny treble hooks. Tried to order some but the order got canceled because they decided I couldn't use my cash reward points on that order for some reason. That ticked me off so I just canceled the whole order. I started with a size 10 or 12 treble that I got from my dad and caught two. Then missed and lost several. I remembered some tiny circle hooks I had so put one of them on and seemed like they done a little better. That and I gave them a few extra seconds to take the bait. If I remember correctly the circle hooks were a size 10.

I don't know why but it seems to me the smaller the hook and smaller the bait the better I do. We been having trouble catching more than 1 a trio here lately. Seems we just been getting one bite. Nobody else around here been catching any either

I agree. Seemed like they would take it better with the smaller circle hook and smaller ball of bait. Instead of biting it it seemed like they would just hit and run with it. There were a few catching one here and there but I was wearing them out. Couldnt hardly keep a hook in the water. There was a bunch of people there. Several came by and asked how I was fishing.

They don't bother to even ask me anymore. Everybody at the lake already knows what bait I'm using along with the size hooks and pound test. If they come and I don't have any fish they don't stay long. I've heard more times than I can count if Luther ain't got none they ain't biting

Why do some have the little nub fins behind their gills? I caught one like that the other day.

Those are picked off by other fish at the hatcheries. I've had em with those nuns and other fins missing as well

Took yesterday off from trout fishing and went with another buddy crappie fishing at Cherokee lake in TN. Pics are coming later.
I still haven't caught em all the lake I fish are still due another stocking or two so hoping to get a few more lol. May ride out to the lake here in a few and see if anything biting.
