Quiet Crossbow

Is there a reasonably priced quiet crossbow? I have a Barnett Jackal and it sounds like slapping two 2 x 4s together. Since having shoulder surgery three years ago I can no longer shoot my bows so I bought a crossbow. It's not as much fun to shoot as a bow but it is what it is and I'll make the best of it.

There are some silencers available commercially (Ten-Point etc), they do work but not dramatically.....you'll never get a quiet crossbow!

I'm on my first xbow, They all say the new one I got is quiet, but sure is louder than my 10 yr old mathews vert bow. prob as loud as my 80's oneida eagle bow. LOL at least my daughter can get out this bow season.

I've only seen and shot a few but the excalibers I've shot are the quietest I've heard.

I will get blasted for this, but here I go, I am shooting the inferno fury crossbow, it is very reasonably priced, I think 180.00 and probably cheaper if you look around,
it isn't the fastest bow, but it shoots 235 fps and a little faster with carbon bolts. it is extremely quiet compared to my friends Barnett, another thing ive done is I use silicon oil on the bolt shafts to quiet it even more, but you must practice with the bolts lubed as they shoot higher, and faster. anywhere you find friction, you'll find noise.
I bought this bow to get into crossbows without investing a fortune, but other then some ten points, and a few others I cant justify going to something else,

I hope not, it just seems in this day in age if you don't have the most expensive, name brand bow on the market, you don't have anything, I really enjoy that bow, and always keep my shot to 35 yards or so, that is why I bow hunt, to get fairly close to the game, not to see how far I can hit one with a arrow or bolt.

Thanks guys, someone told me some of the Ten Point cross bows are quiet but way more $$$ than I'm wanting to spend. My Barnett shoots great, just noisy.

I shoot a Ten Point and it isnt quiet to me, however speed certainly helps with the noise factor. The buck I shot saturday was at 11 yards and didnt even have time to move before the arrow was through him. My longest kill was at 34 yards with it and even at that range the shot was dead on. Im not pushing Ten Point just the speed factor

I have been using a Barnett quad 400 and it seems loud to me as well but I just don't plan on taking a long distance shot with it. I have it sighted in at 20, 30, and 40 yards but I doubt I would ever take a 40 yard shot just because of the noise factor. It fires at 345fps so it's got all the speed of a ten point or even a Horton. Only down side it how much it weighs. Starts to wear on me after several hours of still hunting.

My Older Parker Cyclone is pretty quiet but I did purchase the string suppressers after hunting a couple seasons.

I will say the Barnett Recruit I shoot is the most quiet crossbow I have ever heard. You can get them for under $300 now.
