Quickest growing cover

I’ll have some light dozer work done today to clean up one of my spots and was wondering what I could throw down that would take fast and start growing. I know it’s getting late in the year. Winter wheat with various clovers for the spring?

I’m partial to winter wheat. No matter what the weather does it’ll make some roots.

We use it at work from late September on to cover our dirt work. Fescue before that.

Looks like the consensus is rye and clover. How long does it take deer To hit turnips or for them to mature? Do you know if you can seed clover with it?

Definitely for late season

You can put clover and turnip seed in the spreader together if you want very close to the same seed size.

Turnips are 45-60 days I believe. Been dry here for 3 weeks other than a couple spritzes that hasn't helped a bit. My Triticale and turnips and forage brassica have done hardly anything cept for emerging. Need rain. This damn sand ground holds zero moisture if we don't get consistent rain.

Following… LOL. Actually I have a few bags of winter wheat left over and I was going to seed my lawn with it until spring

My work didn’t actually get completed until Saturday. Couldn’t get any seed locally so I bought a couple of bags of plot mix at wal mart. Maybe some of the rye and other stuff will pop up but who knows. I’m going to throw clover in with it too and hopefully it will bug coming up good come spring

My dad said that our local Nutrien sells cover wheat for $15 a bag. It’s like winter wheat but lower grade. Guess I’m going to verify. I sewed KY 31 then strawed. It’s so dry the birds won’t even eat the seed guess they get choked on it with all the dust. 🤣
