Anybody here been to Peabody much this year? What is the bird populations looking like? How are the public lands looking. I know that we have several birds on private ground now. Things seem to be looking up.
What are you seeing?

I have been going to peabody for about 6 years now. We go at least 2 times a year for yotes. When we first starting going out there, we ,might jump a covey in a two day period. Each year it seems we jump more and see more running across the gravel roads. Last year when we were there i think we saw about 8 or 9 covey in 2 days. I have not been back since then but i am going next saturday so i will see how many we see then.

Happy New Year to all....

I just joined this site and saw the Peabody thread.....
I have hunted Peabody 2x this season and have found birds both visits....
The cover is very thick and I'm finding my setters have to adjust to hunting the reclaimed land.

High Brass, I found it very tough hunting too. Hard on the dogs (cuts, burrs, and had to fight through some heavy cover) and extremely hard on me! Thick cover that is tough to walk through. But we did manage to scrape out some pointed birds. I think it is pretty compareable to some of the tougher east KY strip mine reclaims.
I had leg cramps bad that night! Fighting through that cover was tough! I would recommend whoever goes there to take plenty of Aleve along.
