Who processes there own deer,
You’ll find many on here do.
I do. My buddy has a walk in cooler. So can hang it and work it up when I get time.
I'd have to take out a loan every September if I paid a processor.
I kill more deer than EHD, son
I built my own walk in. Process it all, deer, beef, hogs.
That's my next project
The one my buddy has,we built last year inside of his Morton building. We had 14 Deer hanging in it at one time last year during gun season. Makes it nice when its hot out. We processed a Beef this year and hung it for 7 days in it. Let it age some. The cut it up.
Meatstick I did mine with 2" styrofoam walls, a 12000 btu AC and a Chinese controller bought off Ebay for $10. Keeps the room at 37f avg throughout it's cycle. You can do it with a Cool-bot but they are $350 + the AC. I did mine for less than $400.
Keep a big cooler or two in my truck. We string em up, quarter, and put in the cooler where we hunt. Then, I take a few days (or longer if needed) cutting and grinding in the garage.
I do. I’ve taken a few deer hams to get processed for summer sausage but I do that now myself. we killed 7 deer last year and I processed all myself. I’ll continue doing it that way to.
I’ve never took a whole deer and dropped off at a processer. I’ve been skinnin deer since I was 13. But like I said I’ve dropped a few back hams off but no more.
Same here. Have taken meat to processor but never have a whole deer. Probably been 5+ years since I’ve taken anything to one.
we do our own. have for at least 10 years.
I know what im getting when i do it.
im not saying every processor but if you watched how some do it you would do your own.
This is the way I have process my own Deer, and have done several over the years. Now days, I take my Deer to a processor, as my hands have some arthritis issues.
I took a screenshot of this to make sure I can find it again. Can you post a link to the controller please? I was looking at that cool bot last month. My cooler is already framed up. I am just trying to figure out the best insulation for it.
I plan to put 10 in freezer myself. Gonna try to make more hot sausage and brats with leftover pork fat from hog killing.
