Well crap. Chase can't even draw his bow after surgery. He was depressed enough, that made it worse. Is it difficult to get a medical waiver to allow a person to use a crossbow during bow season? If not, does anyone near BG have an old crossbow he could borrow? A little time in the woods between treatments would help him a lot. Help him keep his sanity last year.

It's not difficult at all. His Dr's signature is all that is needed I do believe. I have a brand new one that I would let him use. I'm in NC but will be headed towards Hopkinsville opening weekend. Probably not alot of help but if all else fails let me know. Praying for your family

Thank you! I had no idea it was that easy. I will keep you in mind for opening weekend. Thanks for the offer.

BG.... the crossbow exemption form can be printed off of KDF&WR website. Have his doctor sign off that he can't physically draw a bow.... just keep the form in his possession while afield.

That's all there is to it ... and nothing else. It doesn't have to be approved or filed with KDF&WR or nothing. Just keep it with his license & permit ... and he can use a crossbow as soon as archery opens.

I don't have a crossbow nor a lot of money but if someone started a GoFundMe account for the purchase of a crossbow for Chase, I'd throw a little money at it. This story just breaks my heart.

I spoke to my uncle about this. Chase starts his chemo the Monday after opening weekend. The chemo is going to be much stronger than what he had before. His port isn't big enough, so they are running a larger tube into his arm for these treatments. My uncle said the doctor told him that Chase wouldn't feel up to hunting after these treatments. Thanks for the offers, but it looks like he won't be able to do any bow/crossbow hunting. Maybe he will get to hunt the tail end of gun season, or Dec ML. If any of you would like to help the family out, there is a FB page to do so. Thanks everyone for the thoughts and prayers. He's going to need them...
