I have drawn an archery bull tag(still excited), will be making a number of trips into the ehu's to familiarize before picking areas for the drawing. Will be camping. Any suggestions for areas that would better for archery would be helpful. Will hunt the first archery week and if not successful will hunt off and on through January. thanks!
Thank you .I never thought that I would get a second chance.Last year I got drawn for a rifle cow tag and booked them for a guided cow hunt last December. Then during the start of local rifle deer season I got hospitalized for diverticulitis and didn't get to hunt for whitetails for the first time since I started deer hunting over 30 years ago.So I get out of the hospital , first time I was ever in the hospital more than a day by the way.I start feeling better and then three days before I leave for the elk cow hunt I get pneumonia.I couldn't keep food up or down and ran a fever for a week.Nothing like being on vacation and being to sick to do anything. So I figured my elk hunting was over.I even thought about not entering the draw this year , figured no way would I ever get drawn again. I am glad I decided to go ahead and try like I always have. Now I am thinking about locking myself in my basement 30 days before the elk hunt just to insure I don't catch any nasty virus. One thing is for sure, good Lord willing and if I am still breathing I will be Elk hunting for the first time in my life.
im looking for a place to hunt in EHU 2 for a bull... if anyone could give me some info that would be greatly appreciated.. thanks
I have gotten EHU 6 for a cow archery. Anyone have any ideas or tips about this unit that may be helpful to me? I plane on doing some scouting a few times before hunting. Any information would be helpful. This is my first Elk hunt ever. I just got back this past fall from Alaska where i Killed a 56 Inch moose. I have always wanted to hunt an elk and now I have a chance. What a great program Kentucky has been doing for it's hunters and its wildlife.
I've heard good things about shady creek outfitters, i think they work alongside LowGap Outfitters, which guided for my son last year. They did a great job. They cover ever EHU. www.lowgapoutfitters.com
Looking for an Elk Guide in Eastern KY I was drawn for a 2013 Gun Cow Elk in KY. Unfortunately, my knees are in Horrible shape. Have been considering total knee replacement. I'm a 58 yr old woman and just can't walk far at all. What's the best way to approach a hunt ? Just sit and watch for Elk to come by ? I'm contacting a few Outfitters, but wanted input from folks on here. any help would be greatly Appreciated....
I think you would be best to go the guide route, cow elk is probably harder to hunt and tag than a bull, besides having a guide they will be there to help get her out.

I got drawn for a Bull Firearms 2nd week, looking for area info and reasonable prices guides. send me a PM.
I have a Firearms Bull tag Hello everyone, this is my first post. After years of looking and hunting for this I found it: Congratulations, your were selected for a Bull Firearm - Week 1 tag for the Elk Quota Hunt : The shock is starting to wear off , its time to get started. I have been on many ATV rides out off Evarts Ky. I know what Eastern Ky. looks like. I will have all week to hunt. I don't need a outfitter, I need a good guide and a place to hunt. I have not put in my unit choices yet. I am OK with someone who has a place to hunt and knows how , did not get drawn and wants to enjoy the fun. Send me a PM
I have an owner that usually gets 2 or 3 late season tags in Harlan and Bell. he has the land as well to hunt, around 1,800 acres. I don't much about it except for he gets notified a little later than the draw about how many he will get. He said usually June/July. I guess just try to PM me so that I can keep your info.
