Guess there’s a good reason they’re specifically mentioned as being illegal in the regs. Apparently Fred Bear was a proponent and even had patents.

I like how they say succinylcholine is a muscle relaxer. While partly true I guess. It’s more accurately described as a paralytic. Meateater done an episode about it actually. Honestly it would account for fewer loss of deer. But would cancel it out with people taking stupid shots

I dont know a thing about them, or anyone that has used them. But i had a good friend, kill a big 8 point, back i think, in the late 80 s, a very long time ago , had a very odd looking deal, straight down in its hip. They finally decided, it was a poison pod. That one apparently didnt work. But it had healed up. Not sure, if whoever shot it, was just a bad shot, or thought maybe he could hit the buck anywhere, and get him. But the buck had to have been right under them, for it to be shot straight down in the hip.Best i remember, buck was at least 4 1/2 so with it being healed up, it was shot before a year or more before, he killed it.

I'm sure it's similar to what Tim Wells dabs on his blowgun darts. Dude kills deer and bears and sheep and goats with the damthing, and they die on camera. I have the same blowgun and darts, and promise you, a 12 ringed possum or coon WILL NOT die on camera lol.
I've read up on the old pods though. It doesn't seem like such a terrible thing IMO.

Don't think I'd be eating a deer with those drugs in its system.
Those meds have a very short half-life. Meaning they get burnt up extremely quickly. Usually just long enough to suffocate. Bad thing is, if they do die from the paralytic they are aware of it and just lay there and suffocate. At least that’s what happens to humans on the stuff if they aren’t intubated and ventilated.

That's the way I understood it when I read up on it. Out of the system within minutes.
