So I think it's funny that as we grow up some things we learn from our family and friends isn't always factual. Oddly enough I've started to think that I've been wrong all these years in what I thought was poison ivy. My qdma magazine this month only further demonstrates this. The first picture is what I always thought was poison ivy, the second is what I always see in literature as representing poison ivy... Your thoughts?!?

I always go by the woody "hairy" looking vine not the 3 leaves. I can't get it anyway, but my youngest daughter can. The picture you took is not poison ivy.

Virginia creeper. New growth sometimes has three leaves.

Yeah I was unsure what it is called but I definitely wouldn't touch it.

This is correct. The first pix is Virginia creeper. I don't think there is poison oak in KY

    So which si which???

I was always told the 1st (5 leaves) was poison oak & the 2nd (3 leaves) was poison ivy? And I've gotten rashes from heck from both!!!! (Not to mention that my mom ended up in the hospital once after she got so ticked at me, she ripped a big length of the 2nd 3-leaved vine off a tree & stripped the leaves off in anticipation of whipping my butt.... I saw what she had hold of & ran like he**! By the time I went back to the house, she was already breaking out & was too busy begging me to take her to the ER to let me have it!)

I just assume all of my family and friends know much less than I do. Hasn't failed me yet. As others stated, the plant on the left is Creeper.
