Never happens to me deer hunting, but duck hunting I have been intensely playing a game when I flock comes hightailing it into the decoys. More often than I would like to admit they make it out safely as I fumble to put my phone down and grab the shotgun. Now one time deer hunting years ago (before cellphones were really common) I had a fawn walk within feet of me sitting at the base of a tree reading a book....guess I was really into the book cause I never heard that fawn til I looked up and it took off. That was the last time I took a book out in the woods with me!

happened to me Saturday morning. Was sitting in the woods and grabbed my phone to play a game of candy crush because I wasn't hearing anything and after I lost I looked up and a small 6 point looking right at me about 30 yards. He never blew, I stayed real still and he went on about his business. Yes I assume a lot of deer have been saved by the invention of the smart phone. LOL

I don't take a phone with me while Deer hunting; but rather I take a Walkie with me so I can call my Brother in case I need his assistance.

My buddy texted me from the stand from Omaha NE and said he had a shooter at 15 yds. Went to put the phone in his pocket and dropped it on the stands platform. Buck bolted and he is very angry at himself.

I've only had it happen to me once and the deer was 250 yards away. I put my phone away, grabbed the rattle bag, he walked to 31 yards and the Hoyt did the rest. Luckily for me it was raining so he didn't hear my phone buzzing away since the psycho I was dating at the time was NOT happy that I didn't reply to her text within 30 seconds.

I take mine with me now but I never get it out for fear I'm going to get busted.
