Everyone in my family hunts/fishes/traps and camps. We exchange some pretty fantastic gifts each year from skinning knives, firearms, traps, fishing rods and of course lots of ammo.

wanted to see what all y’all were doing and get other ideas.

my favorite gift in the last several years was this Hunters Log book. Let’s me keep track of dates, weather conditions and locations of my successful and sometimes hilarious hunts.

A few years ago I got a set of tripod trigger sticks, tall enough to shoot from while standing. That was a gift I would have never bought for myself, but now that I’ve had them I will replace them when time comes, I love them. This year I asked for a rangefinder. I believe ammo is a very good gift as many people can’t find it or barely afford it when they do now. A gunsmith screwdrivers set would be nice too, could properly mount scopes.

I am more into wrapping and decorating gift packages than anything else. I tend to put an enormous amount of time into it and much is typically saved by whomever, like two gifts in one.

My FIL wanted a fancy pen so I got a little pen kit and made him one out of a turkey feather I had killed that spring.

I wrap my gifts in Natchez shooter supply magazines, predator extreme, whitetail hunter, buck master and Peterson hunting magazines. Oh and electrical tape. It’s more like two gifts because it’s a game to try to get them open.

Funny you mention that, because I just found this gift set for a youngster. Would get a nice one for an adult...

My son and daughter always come up with the best gifts for me....

Last year they got me a backup camera for my truck. The "camera" is on a magnet and I just stick it to the metal above the rear view window. The monitor plugs into the cigarette lighter. The monitor allows me to see the position of my goose neck (or bumper hitch) trailer as I'm trying to position it above the ball. Before I got the camera I always tried to place a rock or a piece of wood or something behind the rear wheel when I un-hitched....but this never worked for one reason or another. I'd wind up positioning and re-positioning the truck a half-dozen times before I could get the trailer attached. (I know, some of y'all can probably do it the first time....I can't.) This is something I'd never have bought for myself, but something that I use all the time.

One note - the magnet isn't that powerful and you have to remember to remove the camera and place it back in the truck before driving away.
