I’ll be camping there from Thursday to Monday. Anyone know if anything’s biting or if the creeks even fishable. I’ve always wanted to get into fly fishing but have very little experience with it.

I can never find a hook small enough to hook a fly...

They haven't been stocking trout, due to the heat and lack of rain. I'd be surprised if the creek is anymore than scattered puddles honestly.
Nice 3-d course and gun range there though. Decent deer hunting and awesome squirrel hunting right there in Otter Creek

I figured as much. I’ve killed a few does there before. Seen the trout stocking wasn’t until next week. If your after flys tho meatstick you need a bugassult rifle. They are fun to kill time around the camp site no joke.

Yessir. I keep a couple handy here around the homestead at all times. The kids never let me have my turn with it tho

Yeah. I hear ya. I've never seen butter fly or a brick walk either. And how do they know moths have balls??

Had to make sure I didn’t want to return it. But now I’m hooked. I did look like the
new guy out there tho. Every one had there fancy nets and waders and I’m out there stomping around in my duck waders. But I plan on trying a couple different creaks these next few weeks.

LOL! I wouldn't worry about it. I use a cheap old Zebco and my "magic trout bait".

as long as you got room to extend you line, without hooking a tree, weed, or a friend, fly fishing is fun.
look into other fly lures though.. ya may have to catch hundreds, of the fish ya caught, before of that fish before constitutes a good meal.. though they might make good fishing bait, at the bigger lake, later.. :)
i had a tiny spoon i liked ever so often, and will find a picture of the other lure i liked.. i fly fished ponds, lakes, as well. i didnt have waders, at the time. but managed to snag a few bass worth eating...
that bluegill or whatever, did it have dye on the pectoral fins?
