Yeah, 86Ben Lee n Noel Feather…. Ol school
Ben, hit a bridge, and burned up in his truck. So i heard, if im not mistaken , he had a daughter, that hit the same bridge and got killed, before he did. If not the same bridge, very close. Thats what i was told, back when it happened. But you guys, may be correct on hit by a drunk driver, He could tell stories, all day long, but could back them up. I think at one time, he weighed over 400 lbs, but got a lot of that weight off.Didn’t he get killed by a drunk driver or something similar (Ben)
As a young black country boy growing up. Got into archery [Noel Feather and Chuck Adam's and Daddy Fred Bear were my idiol]. Dropped Noel after his false hunting antics got him trouble. Built my 1st bow willow tree limbs.. followed Bee Lee o. Turkey hunting and now call turkeys using Natura voice.... won Texas stat calling contest '97. Now I'm Coordinator Texas State Turkey calling contest. Man this article brought back so MANY GOOD memories. Sad the way industry has turned into profit(not saying that bad things), but it has made some folks do dishonest things [recall that bass tournament 2guys had weights in fish belly got caught- know that happens before...bit this was over years of winning top $$$). Then the Bomar archery issue.Found this link about Ben.He had a video, about him deer hunting, where , it played taps, before he shot the deer, cant remember the name of it. I cant even watch videos these days, more , trying to sell something, than anything, I wish i had all those old videos, i had them at one time, but they all burned up in my grandmothers, house. First video i ever saw was , October Whitetails, Barry and Gene Wensel, Watched it with them.Barry gave me one and autographed it. Dont hear much from these guys anymore, they are old, and I know Gene 's wife is not well. Bad health, has caused me to loose everything, i ever had pretty much, but memories, but in the end, thats all any of us have. Thats why i have so much respect, and admiration, for all the people taking the kids, they will forget a lot of things in life, but never their first deer, or hunting with you guys.![]()
Remembering Ben Lee, a Genuine Turkey Hunting Icon
Despite his death more than 25 years ago, Ben Rodgers Lee is still revered as the person who brought turkey hunting to the outdoors mainstream.www.deeranddeerhunting.com
Remember that advertisement in the bow hunting magazines in the early to mid 80’s where Myles Keller was standing in front of a barn with all the mounts? When I was a kid, I thought that was the coolest thing ever.I always read Lees tips and strategies in books or magazines Myles Keller was another one I liked to read about , The video your speaking of with the Brothers in it , I believe is the one they did deer drives with bows
