going to get a new chain saw this week,,,,,i am looking at the stihl ms29,,,ms310,,,echo cs530 what i have heard a few times the stihl is made in china now,,,,,,the stihl has only a 1 year warrenty and the echo has 5 years,,,,the stihl dealer is a total ahole,,,he won't cut a single penny even if i have green backs,,,,,the echo dealer is super nice,,,,him and i do a lot of bull crapping when i go in,,,plus he is going to do a great deal for me,,,,,,,the echo has just a few cc's less then the ms290 but it is very well balanced and a bit lighter and revs a lot higher with a 325 pitch chain,,,,,the 530 and the 290 are the same price,,,,,,,,,,i had an echo that always started and run great,,,,,,,reason i have asked,,,i have seen a bunch of stihls on ebay being sold for parts because they blew up,,,didn't see any echoes,,,,,,,, i have talked to people that would have nothing but a stihl,,,,,what is everyone opinion here,,:confused::confused::confused::

I suppose it depends on what you are going to do with the chainsaw.

Several people that I know work for the Electric companies and they mainly use Stihl saws when working up in the trees, but once the trees hit the ground they use Husqvarna saws.

I've only used Husqvarna, never had a reason to change.

I have had great luck and great performance out of stihl but have heard husky is a fine saw also . I am pretty good friends with a few loggers around my area and they all use stihl . If I had to buy another it would be stihl just because its worked for me no problems.

I have a Stihl MS 390 that has been great. I went with an 18" bar and that's worked out well for me in the cutting I do. I bought it two years ago and it was made in Virginia Beach VA according to the paperwork.

I am a big husky fan and own both a husky and a sthil. I would have gotten rid of the sthil if it wasn't for the local dealer that has done right by me and fixed all the problems I have had. Defective coil, trade in on model with more power, sensitive carb, not in that order :) But what I have seen from three echo products I would have to give them a try if the local support was there. Becareful though, alot of guys are nice when it comes to selling something but when you comes dragging in a problem that's where the rubber meets the road;)

Ive got a 10-15 year old husky that hasn't had one single problem. I see no need to change. Both stihl and echo make good stuff too, but if you know of problems with the stihl and would rather do business with the echo guy and he will cut you a deal...then that should be a no brainer

the research i did on the new huskies,,,had a lot of problems,,,,,would stop oiling and burn up chains and bars,,,,,would shut down after it got warmed up good,,,,,no idle,,,,ect,,ect,,,now this was on the newer models,,2 years or less,,,,,,found out the NEW stihles are made in china,,,lots of problems,,,,,found really no problems on the echos,,,,,,so i bought one this morn,,,,cs-530,,,going with the 16 inch bar,,,,this will be my 2nd echo,,the first was the 370,,,great for small limbs and small trees but not bigger trees,,,thats why i went to a bigger saw,,,had no problem with it and ran the heck out of it,,,,,the 530 has the 51 cc engine,,,,thats with a 20 inch bar,,,,should equal to about a 54 cc with the 16 inch bar,,,,,,,,i have known rodger for a few years now,,he has never steered me wrong,,,we are pretty good friends,,,,,quack probably knows the place,,lone oak true value,,,,
