Many moons ago I was at LBL on a hunt with a bunch of my compound buddies. They always enjoyed getting me to shoot some with my stickbow. I was ready to draw on the target when a bushy tail came trotting by. As he did one of the fellows said there is a real target, let’s see you hit it. I have never been able to repeat that shot but I got the Squirrel.
The trick to Squirrel hunting with bow is to focus and aim where they are going to be after the arrow is released and not where they are. They are usually safe around me!

Well in that picture, I'm guaranteed to lose an arrow! Head shot only there!

I can tell ya if ya dont head shoot them, say through the body, but not a pass through, they dont fit through hole in the tree, they get reeeeal mad, and the fight is on. It was touch and go for a while, but i finally won!
Had another one get speared and gnawed up a good arrow before i could tap him.
Shot straight up into limbs one time at one, broadhead arrow, squirrel didnt move, arrow kept going. I thought’dang, missed that one, and lost a broadhead’
Half right. A minute later squirrel fell straight down. Throat cut, but arrow still very much lost.
Freaky things have happened over the years.
