Obama compared to Ancient Roman Empire Leadership

Good googly I typed about 5 paragraphs and it wouldnt post. Here's the Cliff notes version:

Rome died from Huns, Persians, and an infatuation with world dominance. (Posts in what is now England for example)

The US is pretty much founded on Roman principles, they got that right, but Jefferson in particular changed much of what was wrong. Side note: Jefferson tried to abolish slavery in the Decleration of Independence but it was taken out of the initial draft to accomodate others in Virginia, even though Jefferson owned slaves until his death. He saw slavery as a flaw in Roman culture. "All men created equal" is another jab at their class system.

Just to be fair I read the original article and it is laughably slanted. If you take a piece of history to support an idea you already had, thats propaganda.

That is what is wrong with the educational system in today's school. Some would rather chose to rely on the "Cliff Note" version of history than rationally examine the complicated events thereof. I find it simply amazing that you can condense the fall of the Roman Empire into one simple sentence. I would love to hear your one lined explanation of the Civil War or the American Revolution.

Well I really am going to give up the good fight against hate and misinformation on here for awhile now.But I really can't wait to read all the usual "yeah but's", and "it's not the same thing" excuses we are so used to hearing after reading the url I posted. It will be comical I am sure. Enjoy!

The only hate I am seeing is coming from the likes of Van Jones, Rev. White, Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton and others on the other side of the fence. Over the years, the majority of americans have just blown these characters off and let them spout their racial and hate filled filth out of political correctness. This is why we are seeing such a backlash from ordinary americans now that they have slipped into power and started dividing this country. It's not a republican or a democrat argument, hell I am a registered democrat myself, but I just can't vote for this party any longer. If America can survive this "me,me,me, give me, give me" phase that we are going through, the lessons learned from this, I believe will make us a stronger nation.

OK, the difference I see is the first article that started this thread was "food for thought" showing specific similarities between the Rise and Fall of the Roman Empire (historical era) and how Obama and others in power are "chipping away" at OUR freedoms. The article you posted is merely the "opinions" by a British journalist, and HIS poor attempt to compare Bush with Hitler. Below is another "comparison"...

WHO AM I?

I was born in one country, raised in another. My father was born in another country. I was not his only child. He fathered several children with numerous women.

I became very close to my mother, as my father showed no interest in me. My mother died at an early age from cancer.

Later in life, questions arose over my real name.

My birth records were sketchy and no one was able to produce a legitimate, reliable birth certificate.

I grew up practicing one faith but converted to Christianity, as it was widely accepted in my country, but I practiced non-traditional beliefs & didn't follow Christianity, except in the public eye under scrutiny.

I worked and lived among lower-class people as a young adult, disguising myself as someone who really cared about them.

That was before I decided it was time to get serious about my life and I embarked on a new career.

I wrote a book about my struggles growing up. It was clear to those who read my memoirs that I had difficulties accepting that my father abandoned me as a child.

I became active in local politics in my 30's then with help behind the scenes, I literally burst onto the scene as a candidate for national office in my 40s. They said I had a golden tongue and could talk anyone into anything. That reinforced my conceit.

I had a virtually non-existent resume, little work history, and no experience in leading a single organization. Yet I was a powerful speaker and citizens were drawn to me as though I were a magnet and they were small roofing tacks.

I drew incredibly large crowds during my public appearances. This bolstered my ego.

At first, my political campaign focused on my country's foreign policy. I was very critical of my country in the last war and seized every opportunity to bash my country.

But what launched my rise to national prominence were my views on the country's economy. I pretended to have a really good plan on how we could do better and every poor person would be fed & housed for free.

I knew which group was responsible for getting us into this mess. It was the free market, banks & corporations. I decided to start making citizens hate them and if they were envious of others who did well, the plan was clinched tight.

I called mine "A People's Campaign" and that sounded good to all people.

I was the surprise candidate because I emerged from outside the traditional path of politics & was able to gain widespread popular support.

I knew that, if I merely offered the people 'hope', together we could change our country and the world.

So, I started to make my speeches sound like they were on behalf of the downtrodden, poor, and ignorant, to include "persecuted minorities" like the Jews. My true views were not widely known & I needed to keep them unknown, until after I became my nation's leader.

I had to carefully guard reality, as anybody could have easily found out what I really believed, if they had simply read my writings and examined those people I associated with.

I'm glad they didn't. Then I became the most powerful man in the world. And the world learned the truth.

Make such statements with no proof (other than your post) what is "that"

I'll ask again (and it's getting WAY old now) what part of the link can you PROVE is in error?

YOU say "slanted", "propaganda " let's see YOUR proof to back up your opinion, until such time it stands on it's own as KNOWN history and the comparisons to today ARE accurate (whether some like them or not)

YOU made the accusation and obviously continue to dispute it, let's have your proof already.......

I'm telling you now, the "word is out" anyone trying to push this through won't have a job next election, NONE of them want this badly enough (or follow Obama seriously enough) to lose their easy jobs......NOT going to happen.

Especially NOW since folks figured out it's a LIE that Illegals won't be covered......
