So, we had a perfect wind for my ladderstand below the new shooting house. I sent DW there, telling him "In the afternoon, they move from the woods to the field. I've never seen them moving from field to woods in the afternoon there.." So, he gets in the stand. I set up on the ground in the creek bottom to his right, just over the break of the field, about 350 yards away. If deer came through, one of us would see... I saw the stupid spike within 5 minutes of sitting down. About 4:00, I grunted. 2 minutes later, I see a buck moving down the creek, on the other side of the creek. Looked interesting, so I grunted hard to stop him, then grunted again. He darted down the creek bank on my side, stopped perfectly in an opening 90 yards out, but I couldn't see his headgear. He moved into the thicker crap in the bottom. Never could get a good look at his hardware. DW shoots, and this buck, and two does I didn't even know were there bolted, towards DW. We text back and forth, and he couldn't confirm the buck was down, but he thought it was. I didn't want to mess with tracking in the dark, so I came out 30 minutes early. When I stepped out of the crap, I saw a buck making a scrape about 50 yards down the tree line. Glassed him, and could tell he was decent. Jacked my scope up to 14, and he was debatable. That buck walked right under DW, and he texted me, "I'm pissed". LOL. That buck chased a little doe all around him for 10 minutes. He told me I should have shot. I don't think I knew the buck, but he's around, so maybe we will get him. Regardless, DW scored on a nice buck. It's the 7 point I videoed pushing around the 8 point in early bow season. Big body, mature, just the same old shit genes we have. DW has two bucks in three years, so it's all good.....

Let him lay 2 hours after dark to give him plenty of time. Coyotes paid me back from taking out one of their numbers this morning by getting to my buck before I got back. Not sure if 12 or 13 scoreble points yet. Took me hours to get him out by myself. Finally able to post. Congrats to everyone else who also put meat in the freezer. God is good.

Great buck James Scott, congratulations and thanks for sharing! I let one lay for afew hours on a bow kill, went to get him and the coyotes had gutted it and started on one of the hams. I hate those things! I appreciate you killing the coyote earlier.

Had a great day saw 5 bucks all chasing or cruising
Left about 11 and got back in around 3 just got settled in and had already see one 8 pointer on the walk in.
5 minutes later this brute shows up he was on a mission, couldn't get a shot as he was walking threw the tree tops on the other side of the hill from me.
I stayed on him until he got above them, I ranged hi. At 332 yrds he stopped and I shot I could hear the bullet impact and he turned and just stood there, I hit him again and he stumbled over the ridge.
I waited about 10 minutes and went to see if I could find blood which I didn't because he was laying about 30 yrds away. 12 points 16 in wide 10 in points. View attachment 94180 View attachment 94181
