First time to North Dakota! Invited by a friend to hunt a 32,000 acre ranch. Packer was the MVP! The other two dogs were great BUT...Packer came up with Three ( 3 ) blind retreives that were nothing short of phenomenal. First one two hundred yards on the ground then up and over a huge ridge. Fifteen minutes later and a little whistling here he comes with the rooster! Who knows exactly how far he pursued that bird. Second one. I drop the bird and it looked to fall dead. So what do I do? I insist for him to search a certain area...well he showed me different. Down into a gully full of grass and downed trees. Circle, circle, circle, big circle on and on and all of a sudden...pounce! Packer got the bird! I announce. Everyone says NO WAY! Number three... three birds are shot land on the other side of a creek. We drive around and start hiking get to the area Packer and the Vizla pick up the first two. Thrity minutes later no third bird. I look around for my dog and and can't see him anywhere. THEN 200-300 yards away he pops out into the mowed field with the rooster! Just amazing! He has done this type of thing every trip. Got to the point that when the group needed a search or track done...it was "Let Packer out there!" These dogs are incredible. I love my dog. His enthusiasm for hunting is profound. Packer is Pudelpointer by the way, not a very common breed.

I've got 2 friends that have them. I haven't hunted with either of these 2. One of them had the 1st Pudelpointer I had ever been around and I Grouse hunted with them for a week. He going to be a real nice dog. He got ran over that nest spring. It was a bad deal.

I’d be getting him a steak for job well done. Don’t know much about bird dogs but with my experience that may be a once in a lifetime dog

Man I tell you what. I am a chef and have traveled with my dog almost daly and he eats what I eat. I share with my dog. He also eats a good quality kibble. Anyway, every night i cooked either steak, stew meat or hamburger for my dog to mix into his kibble. The guys gave me sorts of crap for feeding my dog like that! If anyone deserved it it was him!
