Spent two days last week washing, waxing, detailing by 02 Chevy. Think I am over the fever now.

Stack up 50,000 one dollar bills in front of you and look at them for two days. That may help break the fever.

I heard that. I test drove and looked last year and decided to buy a used truck I could write a check for.

Staring back in the 70's, I would buy a new truck every 4 or 5 years, once after 2 years. Then I just decided to see how long one would last, and ended up keeping it 20 years. I've got an 05 F-150 with about 80,000 miles and use it mostly on the farm now to pull my gooseneck stock trailer. I'd like to trade up, but I just cannot justify spending what they want for a new one. Since I retired and went back to farming again, I need tractors and equipment more than I need a new truck.

No, the one I have now has the 80 K on it, and I've had it for 10 years. The one I had for 20 years had 3 motors, and I forget how many miles, plus enough other parts to rebuild it completely at least twice....lol. I'm a huge fan of Ford pickups, but that was one was a lemon if there ever was one. I guess I kept it for so long because wouldn't anyone else have it, kind of like a Dodge.

After living to my age, I have realized that today's dream mobile is tomorrow's broken down rattle trap. New stuff, just for the sake of being new, doesn't have the appeal it used to. They all get dings, dents and rust after a few years of use, and the second you drive off the lot, a large chunk of your money goes down a rat hole. This is why I drive a 15 year old truck. I know everything that has been done to it, where it's been, and how the loose nut behind the steering wheel has driven it.

I've been periodically looking, but don't want to part with the stack of cash. I've had my current truck for 16 years. How did the price double and get so out of hand?

I've only had one brand new truck. It's the one I'm driving now. Prolly won't ever have another brand new one but that's ok

I'm in the same boat. Got a '13 silverado 2500. Going to roll with it as long as it makes sense, but my next one will be a couple years old with a few K on it.
