They will clean every piece of visible green off the turnips at my farm but very rarely touch the actual turnip itself. I have seen a wandering bite here and there but that's about it
We got 1" of rain yesterday. First rain in 2 weeks. I planted a plot thursday that was oats and triticale and Berseem Clover, Crimson Clover, Daikon Radish, Rutabaga, Winfred Brassica, Forage Turnip, Ethiopian Cabbage. Cause it was a little larger than what that seed could cover I grabbed some leftover stuff from last year and tossed in there too. It had some a 3 way annual clover and some similar to what was in the main mix. I've run the turkeys out of there every day, hopefully we'll see some emerging crop in a couple days. Gonna hit it with some AMS and liquid fert bout 2nd week. Then may put some sevin spray on it to keep the army worms at bay.
I put a band of winter peas on the outskirts of my turnip plot this year. The idea is to have the peas draw them into the plot so that they may hammer the turnips in the winter time. We shall see if the theory works.
Does any of the throw and grow work at all? See it all over and have some small spots I would like to try it in if anyone has had any luck.
