I built it all that winter, frames to fit the hex hive body and supers, complete with wax foundation in the frames. The hives were box jointed poplar, even the hex hive was box jointed with a cedar shake roof. If only I had a smartphone back in 1989.:(

My uncle plants buckwheat for his bees. I know nothing about it except its the best tasting honey ive had. Got a lighter color/ tint to it than the other jars I compared it too. Turkey love the stuff too

Buckwheat usually makes a darker honey. I’ve planted some for my bees before. It takes a lot of buckwheat to really make any noticeable difference.

Original poster, good luck with those packages, looks like they couldn’t wait to start building comb.

Yeah that one had started drawing about five combs. Wasn’t many bees in that package for some reason.

It's possible I got my wires crossed on the color as I'm only a consumer lol. He plants close to an acre I'd say

If you ever have a small jar that you would sell, please let me know. I haven't had good honey for a while.

How are your bees adjusting to their new home? I just found one in the house, trying to find its way back outside. It must have entered through the open back door and then found a window, along with an Asian ladybug and spider. I went outside and pulled the screen off, turning it around and enabling it to go about its way to work my pollen. It was a rather small bee, compared to those within your photos.

Done a quick inspection yesterday. All was ok. I got another one to pick up and install tomorrow. I’ll take a couple pics if I remember to.

Cool ! If you are comfortable doing video, I think it would be really interesting (you don't have to be in it nor even talk, you know). I just finished the last of my honey a few moments ago. Must venture out for more.
