Got a big deer roast thawed. Can’t decide how to cook it. Thought about pulled BBQ. thought about traditional roast with gravy and potatoes. Aren’t sure. Any ideas?

Beef Broth, garlic, oregano, fennel seeds with your roast (seared) in crock pot. Throw in peppers and onions at end to get them tender crisp. Serve on rolls with broth on side for dipping.

I’d cook it in the crock pot with apple cider, Rotel, Cajun spice and few other spices. Pull it out of the juice and shred it. Then dump it back into the juices for flavor. Butter up some hoagie buns, load them up with meat, and add some hot pepper cheese on top. Then into the broiler to toast the buns and melt the cheese.

Fondue it. Cut into bite size pieces, marinade it for 24 to 48 hours in your favorite marinade mix. Then break out the fondue pot and have a fun interactive dinner with friends and family.

I am assuming this concerns the cut that is the bottom round roast? The way I prepare this cut is to simply roast it like a regular roast. However I like to inject some melted butter inside the roast to add to make it a bit more juicy. Use a cast iron dutch oven (uncovered) and bake in a 350* oven for a couple of hours or until it's medium well. Slice pieces thin and use a favorite bottled Beef gravy to pour over slices. Serve with cooked carrots and Mashed Potatoes. I cut the top round portions into steaks which I charcoal broil on my grill.

Ok here is what I done, put a few tsb of bacon grease in large skillet on high. Seared all over really good. Heavy dose of salt pepper garlic and turned skillet down on high simmer put a full container of beef broth in skillet covered the skillet and let it simmer all afternoon. Sliced it with a side of great northern beans. Just went with a simple roast this time. Turned out great!! I did like a couple of your ideas I will try them. Sorry I didn’t get any pics. Kids where in from school and it was busy.

Larry, I got to say in my years and with all the ideas on here over the years I have never heard of fondue deer. I’m sorry I just got a 70’s Vision with insense(spelling), and free bird playing in background. Lots of smoke lingering. First for me.

Yep back in the day for new year's eve party. My dad would cut up a deer roast and a beef roast and mix them together and marinade in his mix/ grease in the fondue pots not cheese (still got it somewhere written down). Mom would fix yellow rice and green bean(cooked with a ham hock). To top the meal off my dad would crab boil a ton of peal and eat shrimp with his home made cocktail sauce for dipping. Crap ton of friends and family would show up. Then it was tap the keg, and break out the Ancient Age.
