My new little archer

As I said in a different post, myself and my buddy coached an elementary NASP archery team for 4 years. In that 4 year span we won 2 state championships in bullseye, 1 championship in 3D, 1 runner up in 3D, and placed in the top 5 at the World tournament. This was when my son and his daughter shot archery. As an elementary kid, our kids could consistently shoot 265-275/300 with his highest score being a 288. My son has since given up archery and prefers a shotgun to break clay targets.

Fast forward about 4 years and now my little girl who just turned 7 for some reason is wanting to shoot archery. She's not old enough for NASP and I don't really want to get back into that program. So, my buddy runs a S3DA youth team that has indoor and 3D available. It also doesn't have an age starting limit. Last night we broke down and took her to one of his practices to see if she liked and to see if she could actually pull a bow back (she's a tiny thing for her age). The pictures below speak for themselves. Within 30 minutes she was shooting groups like this at 10 yards with his son's Diamond Atomic pulling back a whopping 6 lbs. Looks like I will be buying archery stuff once again. Between archery and trapshooting, I am going to be beyond broke. Our dynamic duo coaching will be back together once again as he has a son that is 8 years old that just started shooting on the team.

Pictured below is my buddy and my daughter.

Awesome stuff! I have raised 4 daughters and now working on my 11 and 14 year old boys. They both did a lot of shooting
bow this past summer. The boys did a lot of winning last summer including a state champion buckle in 3D. That stuff is icing on the cake.
The best part of all the outdoor training though is that everyone of my kids can take a deer from the field to packaged in the freezer with no help at all.
They gut, skin, debone, cut up, and package all by themselves.

Cherish the time! My oldest baby girl is about to hit 30 this year.

Got lil gal about ready to go. Bought her a bow and a release. Her bow case and good arrows should come in by the end of the week. We went to try it out with the junk arrows that come with it. After I got everything set, she shot pretty well. I'll fine tune everything once we get her arrows. I think she is going to be a shooter. She already outshot her teenage brother 3 times in a row. She just turned 7 years old and has shot maybe 30 arrows total in her life.

Super proud dad today. Took the 7 yr old lil gal to her first 3D archery shoot today. She had never shot at 3D animals before and has only shot a bow for a week. Her targets were 8 to 15 yards and she never missed a single one on the 20 target course. She had one big smile on her face when she found out she won 2nd place. Yes Grinder I think its the boots.
