i'll be in Aurora this weekend, thanks for the heads up. I try to stick with Belews and the female pups that prowl their lot
"It was pretty warm & I was as hot as all get out...... so stopped at the store in Aurora for coke. Thats when it happened.... just as I was leavin....there they were. It was a three of'em ...definitely two females....that looked to be travelling with a young male. The females looked to be really mature... lots of battle scars on both. Hair coloring blonde to mostly silver.... real ferocious looking critters...just glad it was getting fairly dark out. So......I jumped back in the truck & hightailed it toward the house." ------------------------------------------------- I see those down at my local Kwik shop all of the time. Pretty frightening to say the least.
Missouri has had at least 18 Wild Cougars confirmed in the last 15 years. I think Missouri will have a small Wild MT Lion Population within the next 10 years. And it's very possible some could wonder into Kentucky. http://mdc.mo.gov/newsroom/mountain-lion-photographed-shannon-county
JD, Thanks for the heads up on LBL, that explains some of the sounds I have been hearing at night down there. Last year I was afraid to come out of my camper to take a leak, sure was a long night I was planning another trip to LBL this fall but think I will stay clear of LBL.
I believe we definately have a few. Its not a thriving population but there are some. I know a guy who got pics with his trail camera and the people down the road got video
The biggest concern at LBL is that the Black Panthers there are interbreeding with the local cat population. You may think you are closing in on a run of the mill house cat when in deed you are about to get eaten by a interbreed Black Panther. be careful out there........ Here is a picture from LBL last year showing a new interbreed Black Panther litter..
I just posted a pic of what I think is a black panther from trail camera in Nicholas County in the trail camera section. Check it out Both pics came from same ' camera and there is pics of the cats tracks from last winter also.
A game warden in East Tn in the last week took pictures of one near Crossville. Why couldn't one be here?
