Due to the wife being at a conference, I’m single parenting it this week and got to run kids to school, activities etc. As such, I’m hunting the next 4 days from about 8:30 to 1:30. Haven’t really done a whole lot of midday, except sitting mid morning to dark. What’s everyone’s thoughts on the midday hours the next 4 days?

Most of my movement on cam has been from 830-12 with the majority of it being around 830-930. Only problem with the timeframe you are going to be hunting is the time you will be getting to your stand. If you can get in clean you should be good to go. This time of the year any time in the stand is good.

I don't see any better time of the year to be in the woods. Deer around here are very close to full rut as it's gonna get. Goodluck

Should be good, tried it today but the winds were every way and never consistent. Got down soon after getting in. Didn't want to bugger the area. Hopefully it's better tomorrow.

I should be able to get in pretty clean. It’s a travel corridor that leads to bedding. Entry and exit are pretty concealed most of the way in.

I start my all day sits November 1st and base them on activity. When mature bucks are chasing or locked down with does, midday sits are best in my experience. Based on the logs I've kept over the years, it's November 2nd - 10th for me, with peak days 5th-8th. Now having said that, I haven't seen a buck since last monday this year !!!! It has to get better for me :) !!

I have never killed a deer during those hours. Granted, I haven’t hunted a lot during those hours. I’ve seen very few when I have.

I've seen plenty deer from 8 to 10 in the morning. After that, it goes down, but you have the rut on your side now, so you could see a buck any time when they have girls on their mind. Also, if you hunt near properties where there are other hunters, it can get interesting when they all start leaving their stands to go eat lunch....sort of like a mini deer drive...

I just hunt when I get the opportunity during gun season, no matter the time of the day. I just lucked into my first good buck 25 years ago when I decided to get to my stand early for an evening sit. I got to the stand at about 1:00. I had pretty low expectations, but along came a good buck in full rut at 1:50. That event taught me that during the rut, all day/time patterns are off. I have come to the conclusion that during the rut, any time in the stand/blind is a good time to be there.

I extend my morning and evening hunts during the rut. I've sat all day a few times, but I've never seen many deer during the mid day hours. But to be honest, I have never had places to hunt that lend themselves to those sightings. I do have a spot this year that does, so maybe I'll break that streak. I will be in that stand from late morning until dark this year, if not all day....
