Have any of y’all duck hunted in Mexico? I’m looking real hard at going next year. Trying to get dates lined out with the crew.

I have some older buddies that were doing that trip every year until one of them passed last year. They always had a good trip.

Yep went about 10 years ago and had a blast. Shot a bunch of Gambill’s Quail too. Third week of January and we absolutely smoked a ton of ducks. Killed everything we went after. Just my opinion, but more of a “collector’s” hunt when ya go.

We were in Durango, Mx. Incredible numbers of ducks. Around Christmas, the local hunters literally fill up beds of pickup trucks with ducks and hand them out in the communities.

I know a guy that went down for a hunt. They didn’t use plugs. Had electronic callers, bait, lead shot. Filled up a truck bed and they took said truck bed to a hole grabbed a few off the top and dumped the rest…. Made me sick.

Odd that happened like that. I’ve been down there dove huntin 3 times. Not unusual to kill 100+ per person per hunt (1 in the morning 1 in the afternoon) every bird recovered was cleaned and those that we didn’t take home was either used at the lodge or distributed among the villages. Those folks were proud to get them.

May have been a shady outfitter… glad to hear there are good ones.
I hate waste, I mean, I clean fresh roadkill… lol.

I know no plug, e callers, lead shot and bait are the norm. Maybe dumping unwanted birds is also the norm in that area. Different country, different practices.

San Fernando. Hunted with Loma Colorada. If you want to go let me now and i can get you the owners number and save some money. i went through a booking guy and he takes 25%.
