I still have some major things to get done before I hunt this weekend. I need to replace the keeper pins in my tree stand as well as fire my new muzzle loader (CVA Optima V2) a few times to get used to it. The weather doesn't look so good this weekend. I only have around 55 acres to hunt on and I don't want to wait too long to get out there. Do you think that going out there to work on the stand will be a big deal if I can't get it done before Friday evening?
Friday 72-49 10% chance of rain Saturday 62-44 10% chance of rain Sunday 58-41 10% chance of rain Whats wrong with that?
I'm saying that I need to go out there and do a bunch of non-hunting stuff. Firing my new gun and fixing my stand and clearing a little bit of my path. How much of a difference would it be to my hunt if I could do that earlier this week as opposed to doing it late Friday. I'd like to not disturb it so close to my hunting time.
None of that sounds like a good idea to be doing right now. I guess the stand work wouldn't be to big of a deal but sighting a gun in there could be troublesome. IMO
Going out there the day before a weekend hunt will not improve your chances. Test fire the muzzle loader away from the area your hunting. I would hunt from the ground or do what you need to do for future weekend hunts.
I dont think replacing the pins on the stand would hurt much as long as you were conscious of scent. As far as sighting in a ML is concerned I would definitely try to find other options.
Go shoot your gun and take care of your stand, you are not gonna run the deer out of the country. They will forget in 24 hours or less anyway.
There is (or at least there was the last time I was there) a shooting range at Miller Welch/Central KY WMA.
"That stuff is no big deal I've seen deer cutting wood with chainsaws." Now that would be something to see!...Note to self get a ground blind!
