I'm wanting to get a meat grinder for making summer sausage, can you take the cutter head off to use them to push your material into the casings?
I like chunks of cheese and don't want to have to grind it up after it's been mixed.
I will also use it to grind the burger, not really looking for a expensive machine as I won't use it for more than one deer a yr.

If you have a olies close by check them for a grinder. I bought a 1 hp westen there about 3 years ago. For $30
As far as stuffing it will come with the attachment but it always makes mush pushing it through. Back before I bought a stuffer I used my canning funnel and a woodin spoon to pack casings. Only reason I bought stuffer is for snack stixs.
But a 5 lb stuffer is nice.

If your only going to do one deer a year I would just buy a cheap grinder off Amazon and it should last for a long time. And yes you can stuff with almost all grinders.

You can get stuffer plates but they will still grind the cheese up until its unrecognizable. If you want to be able to see the chunks of cheese in your summer sausage you will need a sausage stuffer. They are a lot easier to stuff with.

Stuffing with a grinder is not going to do a very good job. For a roll or two you can probably get by but a stuffer is the jam. I have a grinder that I think is 1/2 horse and it is heavy duty. It will feed about as fast as I can get it in there. A cheap one will work fine for small runs. Just take it slower and cut the pieces smaller. Also having the meat very cold will help it from smearing and clogging. The stuffer I have is a 15# stainless upright with heavy gears. I think I got it from Northern Tools. It’s well worth getting in my opinion. Investing in your own equipment will pay for itself fast since it cost so much having it processed.

Got an old 1hp from Cabelas back when they were made by Weston. We've put dozens of deer thru it & it just keeps on going!

Grinding straight burger into the casing they work great, but if you grind, mix with other, and run through again it looks like toothpaste, no matter what plate you use. Take the plate and cutter off, and you have to push everything through it, a two man job. You need a sausage stuffer.
