Got invited today to go on a moose and bear hunt up in Manitoba in 2027. Price for that kind of hunt isn’t terrible. Isn’t great either but it’s doable. Just a fact if do I really want to go. It’s for a buddy of mines 50th birthday so there’s that. I’ve never really thought much about huntin a moose or a bear really. It would be an experience that’s for sure. I drive up to his house in Pa from there we’d drive 30 hours north to Thompson Manitoba, then board the float plane to take us in to camp. It’s all wall tents and backpacking in I reckon. I’ll have to give it some thought.

I was just in Manitoba on a black bear hunt the second week of May. It was an awesome trip. Three of us went and killed three good bears with archery equipment, compound and recurve. Can’t speak to the moose hunting but the bear hunting is great. We were in Birch River, a good way south of Thompson it appears. Moose hunting was closed in the area we were in to let the population recover. Guides said they had been over hunted. Did see a lot of moose tracks on the dirt roads but never saw one. I say go on the trip, you won’t regret it. Just seeing the country, hunting, fishing and being with good friends is what it’s all about.

You only live once, if you can swing it go do it. A chapter in your book of your life.
I was scraping by in my early 20's and was invited on an Alaskan trip. My buddy's dad told me to go or you'll regret it and I took his advice, it was an amazing trip. I'd kick myself if I hadn't of went.

Sounds awesome to me Cap. Moose is one I’d love to do some day. Just once. Go and have fun.

Never put off till tomorrow what you can do today....If you do it today and like it you can do it again tomorrow.

One of the things I believe it is okay to splurge a little bit on is travel. And do it when you are young. The way I look at it is if you do something in your 20s or 30s you get to remember, re-live, and enjoy the memories from it for the next 30 - 40 years. If you wait until you are 65....you don't get the same amount of time to remember it. Plus, no one is assured of tomorrow.

A couple of guys who I've had incredible fishing trips with are no longer able to go. Every time I talk with them something comes up about one of our trips. I'm so thankful that we did it back when we were able....

Hope they have an opening for you, you’ll have a great trip. Moose hunt in the morning and bear hunt the evening, can’t get much better than that.

I haven’t heard back from the outfitter yet. If there’s an opening great, if not, that’s ok too

Well I got talked in to it. Granted it didn’t take a lot of arm twisting. If they have an opening the same week my buddy is going I reckon I’m going
Capt, glad ya got talked into it. If they have a spot, you’ll not regret it. It’s been repeatedly said, new memories, adventures and stories for a lifetime. Good luck.

Sounds like a great time, may want to dig around and make sure the outfitter is legit. It would be a tough pill to swallow going all that way to not be in an area with good moose numbers.

Hope the trip works out; starting to plan an elk hunt for my 50th.
