Go for gills and hook up a 24” blue on a 6# rig in current. Sure made for a fun fight. Had another fisherman with a net had not happened by I’d never have gotten him in

I know what you mean. Caught several that size while bluegill fishing in a local pond. Best was this one caught on new years day couple years back. On a 9 foot B&M crappie rod, one single wax worm on a # 8 hook ice jig. After weighing it I put it back....14lb 1 oz.

Honestly that’s a great question. If I were catfishing I’d have been using cut gills or cut shiners in this situation on a sinker slider rig.
This one chased a single big fat wax worm of all things.
My personal favorite blue cat bait is cut bait. Gill, creek chubs, shiners etc.. Flathead I like big live suckers.
Channels I like cut bait along with a couple select brands of dip and punch bait for lots of eaters

that cat right there, there is a meat pocket, right behind the eye, and many more cat's, that is underestimated, and worth finding.

Nice cat! I Love when you catch them fishing for bream, an unexpected fight that is so much fun! It's amazing how much more they fight in current also , seems to add pounds to them LOL
