I have a dispute to settle.
saw an argument almost come to blows today.

guy number 1 said if 2 people were crappie fishing where the limit was 20 that they could put 40 crappie in one basket and it was legal.

guy number 2 said you had to have separate baskets.

    who is right?

said I would get this in writing. I wasn't going give my opinion in this argument.

40 in one basket is what I've always heard.

so if me and a buddy are fishing on the bank and my buddy has a basket with 25 crappie in it and warden comes down and checks us all I have to say is half are mine even if I haven't caught a fish?
that doesn't sound right. sounds like the wardens hands are tied if there are more than 1 person fishing together.

    this has me thinking now.

it says creel limit. a creel is actually by definition a basket for carrying fish. so wouldn't creel limit mean the limit for each basket?

How is a single basket any different than 1 livewell in a boat or a single cooler? I've never kept my fish separate except when carrying 5 gallon buckets, in which case I dont feel like toting another fellas fish.

One basket is fine. No different than a livewell.
