I broke the eye piece on my Wind river Cascades. I called them, got a RA. I told them the eye piece broke because I had them riding in the seat of my truck, which is what happened. I paid $10ish to send them back. Got a new pair new in the box a week later. No questions asked. My range finder quit working, so I called about a RA. Range finders don't have lifetime warranty. That was explained to me. I sent it back, they replied it couldn't be repaired. Gave me 60% discount on any Leupold range finder I wanted. I'm very surprised at the service you received.

So you lied about how you damaged the binoculars? And you complain about having to pay to send back the damaged product that you misrepresented in regards to how they were damaged?
My experience with returns is you contact the company and they send you a shipping label. I paid the shipping, including insurance, in case the package was lost which totaled in the $30 range, best I can remember. Overall, it was s great deal and a great experience with the company. As far as lying, they were broken when hunting, but i wanted to make sure my claim would be accepted. I don't think knocking your backpack off the stand platform before climbing down would meet their warranty standards.

Sounds like you need to switch to Burris. They have a no questions asked forever warranty. If it's damaged or defective, they will repair or replace. I've been using them ever since Nikon went out of the scope business.

Vortex has a no questions asked lifetime full replacement. They are a "Cheap" scope to some folks, but they are Pretty decent.

Bushnell. I bought a top of the line used scope off ebay
cheap....wouldnt hold Zero. Sent it back and got a brand new one Free replaced upgrade in the mail. I have heard bad stuff about them since.
Leopold
Bought a new Rangefinder and it malfunctioned soon. Returned it and they replaced it Free.

Nightforce.
They will fix it, but it may take a Year.

It's crazy to me how many people won't hesitate to lie to someone and act like it's just an everyday thing. Wait, what, everybody does it right?? It's not how I was raised but I'm glad so many that do, openly profess to such doings on open forums so we know who to steer clear of!!

I own 3 leupolds 2x7 rifleman 4x12 vxfreedom and a vx3hd 3.5x10 firedot.
I will be buying several more as the cds system is awesome!
I do agree that they dial system seems to be the easiest to use. Better than Zeiss and Swarovski but the glass isn’t as good as the German products.

I have returned damaged binoculars on 2 seperate occasions after I broke them due to my negligence, but I made up stories of slips and falls causing the damage. I do not like to pay to ship them back, but they sent back brand new, newer model binos both times. I felt like that wasn't a terrible deal to get a new set since I broke the others. The most recent return was within the last 2 years. My experience with them has been really good. I did all my communication through email.

I'm not promoting Leupold, just posting my experience.
Not cool.

Have one Burris I bought earlier this year. $600 POS (IMO) if you want to dial it. Won't go back to zero. Like a lot of things, they were quality scopes when made in Colorado, but production cost sent em to Asia. Could be OK if you want to sight it in and not dial it, but I could do that with less expensive scope.

Never thought I would be writing this, but here we go. I have a VX II that I have had since the mid 2000's. I have noticed in the last few years that the reticle is too large to shoot anything over a 100 yards or so. This morning I figured I would call up Leupold and see if they could replace the reticle to something smaller, or if anything else could be done. The customer service representative told me that the custom shop had been closed for 3 years, due to the increased demand for optics, and that they were not sure when it was going to open back up.... He also advised me that they (Leupold) were the only ones that could work on their optics. I can understand a short term shutdown, but three years with no proposed opening date and no other solutions? Come on now boys, I know you all can do better than this!
I been using Leupold scopes for over 45yrs, and very satisfied with there service and there products. I will agree they need to get there custom shop back up and running. I am curious to know what kind of reticle is in your scope that's to large to shoot past a 100yds Duplex, Heavy Duplex, are you deer hunting with it? I have owned about every reticle they made in a hunting scope.

Deer hunting with it, yes. As far as I know it is a Heavy Duplex. I got it around 2007. The year before I fell out of my stand and got something on the lens on a (Completely different scope LPN I think). I sent it to them and they sent me a VX 5 at no charge so I have been happy with their customer service prior to this.

So has the "problem" with the reticle started the last few yrs or have your eyes changed? Doubt if the heavy duplex has gotten heavier/thicker. If it's a somehow changed duplex, and they won't address it, I see the complaint. If you want a duplex changed, and they've stopped doing that, oh well. Curious, why did you buy a heavy duplex to start with? I thought they were for short range guns like shotguns and muzzleloaders.

You might be surprised what being honest might get you from a company like that. But you’ll never know because you chose to twist the facts. If they did deny it, neither of you would’ve been in the wrong.

I wasn’t really thrilled with their warranty work either. I sent back a rangefinder (on my dime) due to the battery compartment breaking. It took about 6 months to get it returned with the invoice stating that they replaced the rangefinder. So I opened the box excited to finally get it back just to find out that it was the same exact one that I sent them.
Had the exact same thing happen on my Leupold rangefinder. They returned the ruined rangefinder, said they passed their quality control. I told them I wasn’t satisfied and they offered me a discount. I figured I was already invested that deep so I got a second pair $75 off. Still hate this pair.

Sig Sauer went above and beyond to repair my rangefinder I carried in a rain suit. The pocket filled full of water and they swam for about 6 hours. I was honest about it.

Their scopes may be ok but I’ll never buy another Leupold rangefinder. I’ve switched over to the Sig Scopes as well. Primary Arms has been great too on their scopes. I broke three sets of flip up rings coyote hunting in brush, they sent me two spares last time.

I got the scope when I was 17 or 18 and didn't know any better haha! My desire to shoot a bit further with the rifle has changed a bit. Unfortunately, scopes and rifles aren't cheap, and I want to make the most of what I have on hand.
