I must be getting older, saw 5 different bucks this season and gave them the slip, I just enjoyed watching them and hoping they grow more for next year, I didn’t see the bruiser I was after but had fun watching a 130 8 chase a doe one morning and they almost ran me over, I got 2 does for the freezer, I’m not a guy to judge what you kill , I have took my share of scrubs and a few nice ones over the years, you got 1 tag choice is yours but if you after big ones you got to let smaller bucks ease by. Blessed to hunt in good buck country, poachers got a good one last year, left the whole body laying by the road, what a waste.

Shoot what makes you happy!
I killed a old deer this yr with a small rack but for me it might as well of been 189 ins, I fought one new rifle all summer trying to get it to do what I wanted and ended up buying another one a few weeks before season, it didn't disappoint me.
Going to take a trip out west in the next few yrs and wanted to see just how well it would work at long range with bullet and scope combo.
I was very satisfied with the results, to me its all about your happiness not anyone else's.

They quit growing once kilt. I’ve let several small bucks walk hoping they make it but hunt a couple hundred acre farm rather than couple 1000 acres. Don’t think I have near the land size to manage anything. Not sure what I do matters as far as passing deer but I know of I kill the trigger it definitely ain’t helping.

We hunt a 100 acre place with property being hunted all around us. In the last 15 years I’ve maybe seen 3 bucks the next season that I let walk the year before.

You can't get there from here.

You and me both. I don't have to kill a buck and sometimes wont so I don't have to end my season.
Ssshhh. Don't tell my wife.

The biggest buck I saw this year was was an 18-19 inch 8 point with the g3 on one side being only an inch or two so I gave him a pass a couple of times. The last time was about 3 in the afternoon and I said boy you better get in the woods. 10 minutes later he got shot as he came out the other side. I passed a really nice one last year and they guy hunting my stand killed him the last weekend.

All we can do is pass the ones we think may turn into something and hope for the best. Most times someone else will smoke them but all I can do is worry about doing what I can do. I'm never going to shoot one because I'm worried about what someone else will do.

I’ll tell ya the longer I deer hunt the less important killing deer is to me. It really is about just being in the woods and spending time with friends. I packed a youngster all weekend last weekend and had a better time watching them hunt then hunting myself. I had a good one less than 10 yards from me yesterday but let him walk in the hopes one of the kids gets a crack at him in late muzzleloader. If I kill a buck that’s great but if I have a good time and get to see others having a good time that’s also great.

I don’t necessarily have to kill anything but I want to see deer. I love the outdoors but if I’m “deer hunting” I want to lay eyes on deer. This has been good season. I’ve had some where I’ve gone 3-4 strait sits in November and haven’t seen a thing. Now decent bucks, we rarely see those, so they won’t determine how much I hunt or the fun I have being out there.

The wife and i have hunted hard all season every time we had the chance. We both work and have kids but we still find a way to the woods. She has been after a 150-160 class buck we have had on camera a long time. She has passed countless bucks some pushing 130s. I have always told her to shoot what she wants and she still wants the big boy. We have seen him 5 times in the last two weeks. I had a shot but didnt take it because there was a lil brush in the way. She hasnt had a clear shot at all. But we have had some amazing hunts and it aint over yet. Late bow and muzzeloader is looking good this year. Im just happy she loves to hunt as much as i do. Taking the kids this afternoon while she goes back to the farm to chase the 150 dream. Good luck fellas.

Countless bucks pushing 130??? Countless? Now come on, countless??? I’ve hunted 10 days of gun and 2 bucks bigger than a spike and 4 pt. 1 of those was a small 8 about 12 inches wide and the other was a broken 3 yr old 8 pt that my son killed beside me in Ohios youth season. It must be nice to be seeing bucks like that, congrats.

Know about this all too well. Not seen much this season. The life of zone 4 hunters I guess, oh well.

Yes sir. We are blessed with some great deer hunting ground. We seen a dozen bucks last nite. Seen two fights. 1 snort and wheeze. An seen a buck blow at another buck after he got whipped. No not all are 130 class deer for sure. Most arent. But yes we have seen several pushing those numbers. We put alot of time into it year around. We had a few early in the 150 class. All but 1 has gotten killed by neighbors. Lucky for us the one she really wants is still alive and walks in daylight. He is just very hard to get the drop on. An if you wanna hear something that will prolly blow your mind. We got lots of good deer ground and deer to hunt. Run 3 to 4 cams year around. I havent seen a turkey on any of my places since late july. Not 1. An it kills me cause i would rather hunt turkeys. Keep hunting buddy. There are still lots of deer left out there imo.
