This is Ruff Elhew John. This fall will be his fourth trip to Wisconsin. View attachment 24579

Beautiful pointer grousec. I've been a setter guy for over 40 years, but I've always had an itch to own a big blocky black headed pointer before I get too old.

If you ever breed John ... keep me in mind.

Calm down Birdman ... I'm not going completely to the dark side:p ... it's just something I've wanted to do for awhile.

Thank you grouseguy. I had setters for years and lots of them, and still love a good setter. Ever since I got my first Elhew bred pointer I have loved them. John just has the best personality and I do plan to breed John in the near future. I will keep you in mind! Thanks, again.

OK ... I didn't know you guys had talked about her. Thank you!!!

You know ... I'm not sure I've got any good pictures of Penny. I'll need to remedy that.

Here is her littermate brother, Zeke, who lives in the Flambeau State Forest in WI that you hunted with also:

and her father, Junior, who always travels to WI with me:

Fine dogs everyone! I figured I would share a photo of my dog, I mean what the heck. She isn't a hunting dog, although that is what she was intended for. I hunted and raised GSPs for years. When my first dog and sire to the pups I raised got into coyote poison that the owner said wasn't there (finished huntng and put Rip in the box, when I got home he was dead) I sold every other dog I had. It took the desire right out of me. My wife bought Cassidy here for me two years ago to hunt but as timing would have it I took a new job and didn't get a chance to break her. Just out of curiosity I may take her out this fall and put a few pigeons and the blank gun out just to see what she does. Regardless she is our family and will always have a spot next to my recliner just for her.

The one on the right is the one I follow in the Northwoods an around Appalachia. He's not much, but he's all I can afford. He won't point at all, never retrieves, and can't hear his self fart. He is a shoeshiner, so really no use for a shock collar on him.

I forgot to add that he is the product of very selective inbreeding. His brother on the left, MR, isn't much better. Cull and cut folks, cull and cut!

Son, I just get GSP on track and now your trying to stray.:) I had a big headed pointer, hit the scales at 74 lb. One hack of a grouse dog. I took him to Mn. the first time I hunted Mn. he lost 19 lb. in six days of hunting.
