Can someone from KDFW point me to the written regulation on the permitted hunting Distance from Bait particularly during bear hunting seasons?

    I think it's worse, that's my point....

I have 1200 acres leased, it's covered with bear but I'm afraid to bear hunt it because from what we've been told and seen firsthand is that if a harvested bear has corn, household trash, or anything KDFW considers bait inside it you'll be issued a fine and court date.

That has to be a joke. Bears travel and eat any and everything.

If thats true... shoot bear, check stomach, shovel, shut up. Repeat until you find one with a clean stomach.

This bear hunting is a joke, they don’t want these bears killed yet, they want a bigger population ,for out of state hunters, and outfitters, all they’re trying to do right now ,is make a few people happy. When they get the population they want,it will go wide open ,hunting over bait and all.

That's like calling anyone with cash a bank robber. I'd bet that regulation wouldn't stand up in court.

Or a drug dealer if the cash has trace amounts of drugs on it.

Pete...I'd say if u saw first hand ...I'd say someone was hunting over bait...the way I read it there is no defined length from a baited area...and as for been cited for harvesting a bear with bait in the stomach content..no way...as said earlier a bear covers a large area and eats a whole lot..if u have 1200 acres to hunt...I'm sure u can find a place to hunt not close to your corn pile ...

Just my opinion but if he isn't chewing it you can shoot!

Tell that to a friend of mine that had F&W confiscate his bear for hunting over bait when NO bait corn existed on his property. He Had to go to court to fight it from going any further.

Not sure how many conversations you’ve had with F&W about bear, but I’ve had MANY.....
F&W bear biologist even threatened to issue me a violation because of a gas grill on my own porch!

The Bear population is out of control in Letcher County, I’m not sure what F&W is trying to achieve with the bear seasons, but it’s obvious they want very, very few harvested.
