I agree but I should not have to buy a license when it is private land ownership that feeds this PUBLIC resource.
Deer dont know who's land it is. They arent picking on you in particular. You arent the only one feeding them.

Just like fish sitting in a particular part of the river because the environment is right, game does the same. When the environment changes they move on.

If you have a farm you are inviting critters just by the nature of what you do.

Farmlands of less than 5 acres? Tax collector says to be considered farmland, it has to be 10 or more acres. So, legally it's residential land of 5 acres or less. Legal loophole?

Agricultural land is defined as any tract of 10 acres or more used for the production of crops, livestock, tobacco or timber, any tract of five acres or more used for commercial aquaculture, or any tract meeting the requirements for payments for a participation in an agricultural program based on a contract with the state or federal government. Horticultural land is any tract of five or more acres used for the commercial cultivation of a garden or orchard, or for raising fruits, nuts, vegetables, flowers or ornamental plants.

this is the important part anyone can get a farm number through FSA and sign up for an eqip contract with NRCS with no restriction on size. so technically anything could be considered a farm.

So, you're safe to hunt on your 5 acre or less residential property without a license if you haven't had it classified as farmland. If the tax bill says residential and not farm, you should be able to get around the law.

I live on a 1/4 acre edge of town lot and have deer in my yard all the time eating my landscape.
My brother lives on a half acre and the deer are there all the time and destroy his garden and landscaping. He shoots them with the pellet gun to try to move them along. The last two years he has had two big bucks there, and one is a trophy! A friend of mine down the road has a three acre parcel and keeps his freezer full. 5 acres is plenty to put venison in the freezer and even put down a trophy. If I lived on five acres, they could stick their new regulation!

How can a 5 acre track be designated “farmland?” As big puddin said, here in Boone county you need at least 10 acres and you have to deduct the area of your house and outbuildings to achieve a 10 acre total. So in essence you need 12 acres or so for agricultural tax exemption.

It can't. That's what I'm saying. The law says 5 acres or less of farmland. Tax man says it's classified residential.

I don't want to hear any sniveling', I am a NON resident hunter that owns 2 properties, one home and the other is 60+ acres for hunting. I pay the commonwealth and KDFW over $400 annually to harvest game. They don't even offer a combo/ sportsman license of any type for NR's. I don't see the point with the 5 acre thing here either, but I will gladly sell you another few acres so you don't have to spend the $95. Burma Shave!
